Last Thursday we went to Willard home then we went to Willard home we went in and sat down then Rebecca got her violin and played jiggle bells then amlie play the the pano then Flo played the peno to the Libby play the glockenspiel then we read to the people and gave our art to the people then we we back to calss. Little Gardens

last term we had little gardens everyone planted one I planted cress when it was grown I had some of it I did like it then we tried tried to grow it again.

This year we have been doing art my favourite piece of art we made cartoon art I made happy cat it took awhile but I did it this is what I did.

Market day

Today was market day I was so excited I bought  $3.00 to school for the market day. First we had a look around then we ran back to class and took my money. I ran around buying stuff.

We sold

• The Candy Cane Reindeer for $1
• Popsicle Stick Christmas Trees for 50c
• Wooden Flat Packs for $2

We made $144.10 which was great!

Te reo

On Monday we do te reo with room 7. We made a slide show.

I learnt how to say you are eating in Maori. It is hard to learn a new language but I like the challenge.

Sport start

We have bean doing gymnastics. There are different ways of traveling, these include: batamen, realev, chase, and the step hop. There are different ways of rolling, these include: the elephant roll, the tuck roll, pencil roll, and the dish roll. There are also different types of stretches, including: stretch, straddle, pike and the tuck.

Flat pack

 Design Brief
We want a decorative model that can be put on top of the shelves by the windows. The model needs to be:

• Made from cardboard
• A flat pack design
• Good enough to go in a shop

We had a go at following instructions to make a flat pack Christmas Tree. We used this concept to help us to create our own flat pack using the design process.

As part of the design process we created prototypes and reflected on what worked and what didn't.

Seed2table

Today was seed2table today we made pasta meatballs with tomato sauce with the pasta we made cauliflower for our podding we had black bean brownies. We went into the library to look at part of plans the difference things is the roots the stems the leaves flower fruit and seeds.

A Moment In Time

I hear raindrops coming down smashing on the ground.

I see rain dropping faster than a car going down.

I see lightning striking down faster than it's ever gone

I feel rain slowly coming in my shoes.

I feel my socks absorbing the rain.

I think it’s flooding.

Week 5 panekirtanga

 Yellow hat: today I showed panekirtanga because I helped Henry make a costume. 

Red hat: in discovery I  felt good when I made Henry feel good when I helped him build a costume for his movie -  ' Goosebumps'. He said since you helped me a lot you can go in the movie. 

Blue Hat: the point of discovery time is to work together with people you have never worked with before. You might become their friend. 

Maths

Today we did maths for the hole day I went to the joes class we had to measure stuff I used cotton wool then I got 2 boxes I filled 1 box the I tipped it in other box to figure out which is bigger.

Today we did maths for the hole day  I went to the water xylophone we had to make a xylophone sound with water in a jar we filled the jar with a little bit of water then we play to then we asked Brenda to video as playing it she put it on YouTube you can go and watch it.

Today we did maths we had actives for the day then we went I went to the tinfoil boats this is my boat.

We went out we put our boats on the water then we put weights on our boats then we put as much as we can.

Week 4 parekiretanga

Yellow hat: I enjoyed playing snap with Max and Libby.

Black hat: when I was playing snap with Max and Libby it was really hard to snap the cards to get it.

Red hat: I made Max feel good because I let him play snap with me.

Green hat: next time I will play something different then today.

Lollie cake

Make Lolly Cake using this recipe. Be sure to measure your ingredients carefully!

Lolly Cake

Ingredients:

120 g butter
250 g malt biscuit crumbs
180 g fruit puffs
1/2 tin condensed milk
coconut – for coating

Method:

1. Warm butter and condensed milk together in the microwave.
2. Add biscuit crumbs and fruit puffs.
3. Stir well.
4. Roll into one log or small balls. Coat in coconut

What went well today?

Today something that went well was that everyone had a go makeing a lollie cake.

What was a challenge today?

A challenge I had trying to get my hands in the oobleck.

What do I want to do differently next time?

Next time something I would do differently is I not going to play with oobleck that long.

Holliday

On Monday me my brother my dad and my mum went to mount ruahepue when we were on the road I  keeper asking how much longer till we get there then we finally got there then we were going up Mount Ruapahu then I saw a person he said go back because your car doesn't have 4 wheel drive or chains then we got chains it took 1 hour and a half then we drove up when we got there me and my brother had a snow fight then we had to walk all the way to the toilet we went down on a ride when we got down we try to build a snowman we failed then we got to the car we drove back home. The end 

Te Reo Verbs

I have been learning to write simple sentences in Te Reo. I have enjoyed learning this because I got to work with other people and we got to act.

I had fun doing 3D math I did this with Riley this is what we did.we picked a shape of a few blocks then this is what we did. 

Chapter chat

On Friday we do chapter chat we tweet about charlotte's web now we are cup tweeting about winn Dixie. My favorite thing is the task we do.this week we are making a dog kennel.I did my kennel on Minecraft.

World of maths

Yesterday we went to the world of maths it cool because we did maths activities and we had to work out question the east was the bumble bee I hope you like it.

Cross country

When I got to school I remember it was cross country today. I was nervous and excited at the same time. We are going to Skoogland park for cross country. My goal is to come in the top 10. We went on a bus to the park. When we got there we put our bags down then we waked the track When we got to the end  we had to wait then it our to turn we got to the start then David push the horn then everyone went I was behind Oille we ran we was a little bridge the I saw a lot of mud then I ran across it and then I ran up stairs I saw the finish line I was running down the finish line then I saw Oille pass me. The I came 9th. The end.

Assembly

A while a go it was my assembly I had a speeking part it about chapter chat this is a video hope you like it.

Dancenzmade

This year we are doing dancenzmade. Dean was teaching us. I didn't enter into the competition because you had to pay and I didn't really want to do it.

Sport start

This term our class has been using Sports Start. We are getting better at these skills:

• running
• catching
• passing
• throwing
• jumping
• fast reactions
• batting

Our class has been playing Diamond Ball which is like Baseball/Softball.

I have improved with throwing

Planet facts

Our class worked together to create this slide show. We were able to work collaboratively and all add our facts at the samde time.

The legend of the moon

Long long there was no moon there were two brothers William and Henry they were fighting a lot they never got on. They didn't feel like brothers Liam the God kindness and saw them fighting And seemed in his ears and annoyed him so he  Chuck them into the sky then they became the moon and When they cry their tears are the stars.

Planet earth & beyond-pre assessment

This term we are studying ‘Planet Earth and Beyond’. Part of this Inquiry includes looking at how we get shadows, as well as day and night. Over the term we will be doing different investigations to better our understanding. Below is a sample of my current thinking.


We have been using chalk to draw around our shadows. I have noticed that every hour the sun turns around. The shadow moves around and gets shorter or longer.

Today  was water day our first  rotation is life jack then we made bots out of tenfol we had it put Beens in it now it's my favorite part water fight I tipped a bacet on oil it was fun then it eat the end of the day.

My Learning Goals

Today we looked through our reports from last year. We identified a next step (goal) for reading, writing and maths. Here are my goals:

Maths: my next step is to learn all my times tables

To achieve this goal I will: keep on practicing. Skoolbo will help me to practise.

Reading:

My next step is to improve my vocabulary and understand of different words.

To achieve this goal I will: Use the clues in the text to figure out what the word could mean. I will also use a dictionary to check the meaning of new words.

Writing: is next step is to read his work back and edit his writing.

Active Listening

We are learning about different types of listening. There are 3 main types of listening that we learnt about. Busy Listening - When the person listening is busy doing something. They are too busy to concentrate on what is being said. Me Too Listening - When the person listening has a story that they feel is more important than the person talking so they interrupt and share their story instead of listening. Active Listening - When the person listening looks at the person talking, concentrates, gives non-verbal feedback (e.g. nodding) and asks questions about the story. To learn about the different types of listening, we watched this video:

 

 As a class we created our own video to help us understand the different types.
After practising each type of listening, we realised…

• Busy listening makes us feel like you’re not listening to us. We found it really hard to keep talking. 
• Me too listening makes us feel frustrated and sad that you think your story is more important. 
• Active listening makes us feel valued. We know you are listening because you are looking, nodding, asking questions. 

 As a class we are all trying to get better at being active listeners.

Swimming goal

On swimming my goal is to have straight legs for freestyle so I need to practice to get better

Swimming sports

Today was swimming sports I was very nervous I was in  tui house I was excited I did the width race that was the short swimming  rase I though I was in the finals but then they did leanth but then Gg did    
The freestyle leanths but I think he was in the finals but we came 3 places then we got change but then we went to the esplanade then we finally arrived then we had lunch then it was play time I we down the slide then it went to the round about nick spin as fast then got off it I was so dizzy then we went to the bus ride back to school then it was the end of the day.

Van Gogh Styled Art

We are learning to paint like Van Gogh. We have read lots of books and watched some tutorials. We've experimented with painting our portraits and now we have had a go at painting sunflowers.

Our paintings needs to have

• short brush strokes
• bright colours
• positive & negative images (Main object with a complementing background)
